Water without Borders is proud to announce a grant from the LaGrange Sunrise Rotary Club in the amount of 1,500 dollars. Water Without Borders (WWB) is a local nonprofit with its main headquarters located in Pleasant Valley, NY. Their mission is to provide clean and sustainable water to everyone in the world. WWB’s efforts have brought them to Africa, Honduras, and Haiti.
The LaGrange Sunrise Rotary meets every Tuesday morning at the Daily Planet in LaGrange at 7:15 am. The Rotary Club is made up of dedicated individuals who live or work in LaGrange. Rotary is an international organization. Some of Rotary’s goals are to strengthen the local community as well as emerging countries. This local Rotary Club’s commitments stretch from right here in LaGrange all the way to Haiti. The 1,500 dollar grant to WWB is to be used in Haiti. The funds will help provide truckloads of clean water to the people of Jacmel. Also 10 BioSand filters will be installed in the city of Pierre Payen; A BioSand filter will clean water for a family of 8. This grant money will also help educate Haitians in clean water hygiene.
The grant was presented to Franklin Evert at a June Rotary meeting by the President of the Sunrise Rotary Club, Josh Stratton. Josh is a local resident who is employed as a Financial Advisor for Edward Jones at 1133 Route 55.
